Dynamics 365 Business Central – Overview
The newly released (April 2018) and highly anticipated Dynamics 365 Business Central is Microsoft’s next generation of business intelligence applications in the Cloud. It is a single-end-to-end business management system built on Microsoft Dynamics NAV. Because it is cloud-based, it is constructed to integrate with other Microsoft cloud services, including Office 365, Outlook, SharePoint, PowerApps, Microsoft Flow, and Power BI.
Dynamics 365 Business Central replaces Dynamics 365 Business Edition. Users of the latter can upgrade to Business Central.
Business Central meets system requirements of small-to-medium size organizations that need unified management and reporting in financials, supply chain, inventory, warehouse, manufacturing, CRM, HR, and/or projects.
In short, Business Central is a cloud version of Dynamics NAV with SaaS pricing and a slightly different licensing structure for modules. There is an Essential and Premium license with the following series:
- Financial Management
- Supply Chain
- Inventory Management
- Warehouse Management
- Project Management
- Customer Relationship Management
- Human Resources Management
- Service Management
