This 1-day class is required for understanding how SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) is integrated into Dynamics SL. This course is a beginning level presentation of features, techniques, and knowledge needed by anyone who will be doing simple report modifications and creation in Dynamics SL. Using Dynamics SL sample data, you will modify and create reports using SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio and learn how to deploy them, both in Dynamics SL and using the SQL Report Server.
A working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Dynamics SL would be helpful for this training class. SSRS is more powerful and easier for those who have a familiarity with writing T-SQL statements, although it can be done without this background and we will provide some training on this during the early part of the class.
By actively participating, you should learn to:
• Describe the features of SQL Server Reporting Services
• Describe Report Designer (Microsoft Visual Studio)
• Format and change display settings on SSRS Reports
• Create a SSRS report from scratch
• Use List data regions to group data
• Use Textboxes to display data or hard coded values
• Use Rectangles to contain other objects
• Add tables to reports, including modification and groups
• Add report parameters and when to use a parameter vs. a filter
• Determine when to use a subreport and how to create subreports
• Use parameters to filter subreport data
• Use Common Functions to display data
• Use Program Flow Functions to format data based on conditions
• Toggle visibility of Report Data
• Create Matrix reports and understand the difference between a Matrix and a Table
• Create a chart or graph, including modifying the content and formatting
• Publish, execute and secure reports on the Report Server
• Schedule reports to auto send from the Report Server
• Add an SSRS report to the SL Report Control
• Add the Report to the SL menu
• Add entry fields to the ROI screen via Report Control Maintenance
• Use the information entered on the ROI screen to select data in the report
